Handmade Woven Reed Bracelet
These bracelets are made by a group of vulnerable women in rural Rwanda. They were brought together by our Komera Scholars who wanted to start a project that would give back to their community. They decided that these women deserved an opportunity to generate income to purchase simple items that would make their lives better such as lotion, soap, and clothes.
Over the past couple of years the students have worked with the women to produce the bracelets and improve upon their quality greatly (although they still aren’t perfect!) The women, as you can see below, sit in a field and make the bracelets from reeds that they pick locally. Every penny of the purchase will go back into the Komera Cooperative!
Quality varies with each piece as they are hand woven by our women’s co-operative.
